If your spellcasting mod is decent, you can also use Spiritual Weapon for extra bonus action attacks to maximize Spirit Shroud damage.ġ-2 Fighter / x Hexblade / + 2 Artificer(if throwing weapon route) Also gives you Divine Favor until Spirit Shroud comes online.ĭivine Soul will give you bonus action Scorching Ray attacks. War Cleric will give you WIS modifier extra Greatsword/axe/maul Attacks (War Cleric isnt needed for PAM builds). This will get you 3x attacks (great for GWM and/or PAM builds), plus your bonus action. (War Cleric or Divine Soul are needed to get Spirit Shroud) OPTIONAL: Replace Sorc levels with Bladesong Wizard to add BB or GFB damage to your attacks.Įldritch Knight 11 / War Cleric 9 (or Divine Soul Sorc) You can instead swap in Scorching Ray for when you want to deal even more damage doing: 2x 4d8+STR+CHA, +6d6+6d8 as a bonus action (+2d6+2d8 for each spell slot above 2nd).Īction Surge for more Spirit Shroud melee fun damage. This will be: 3x 4d8+STR+CHA, plus any Smites you throw in for crits. (or 3d8 dmg if no levels of fighter and used feats to increase DW, or PAM/GWM, and put 9 lvls into sorc). Add on an upcasted Spirit Shroud to deal an extra 2d8 dmg to each attack. You will deal 2d8+STR+CHA with each attack. Clockwork Soul is recommended to help with your defenses. This will increase spellcasting potency in the higher tiers, upcast Spirit Shroud and Quicken Magic to cast Scorching Ray as a bonus action (when you need some extra damage). Or you can put all levels in Sorc for more spell slots). Rest of levels in Sorcerer (can add 1 level of fighter whenever you want to get Action Surge. Paladin straight to level 11 for Improved Divine Smite. (This build can also work with PAM or GWM builds instead).ġst level in fighter, that way Dual-Wield Longswords comes online at 1st level. VHuman or Tasha's Custom Lineage, to pick up Dual Wield Feat. Here's some of my favorites that I've come up with:ġ1 Oathbreaker Paladin / 7 Clockwork Soul Sorcerer / 2 Fighter I was recently pondering Spirit Shroud builds as well. My only concern is if anyone else at the table does have an optimized build, you may find yourself struggling to keep up in tiers 1/2 before everything comes online. If you're not playing in a hyper-optimized game, you may very well have the freedom to multiclass 5 levels into cleric without issue. It is far less investment and the parts you miss out on are: creatures can still regain hit-points normally, 1 creature's speed isn't reduced by 10, you're required to spend bonus action to move it to a new target- so you'll want to place it on the bigger/beefier enemies.ĮDIT: the beauty of D&D is you can do whatever you want here. For the price of a feat, or 2 levels into ranger, or a 1 level dip into warlock you can gain access to either hunter's mark or hex. Unless you're playing a tier3/4 game or one-shot, I think that ding to main-class progression would be far too great. You have to sink 5 levels into a different full-caster class to gain access to this spell. I love the flavor of building around this but I think, unfortunately, the cost is far too high.
